Maybe next weekend I can wear this without sweating

I took a little break from knitting my Tweedy Aran Cardigan to play with some lovely handspun yarn I got from Betsyply. The yarn was telling me that it wanted to be worn around my neck and involve lacey holes. So I surfed Ravelry for a little while, and found a pattern that looked promising, Fawn Pea's Quickie Cowl. (I guess I could have made something up myself, but Quickie Cowl fit the bill perfectly.)

It's always a little tricky working with handspun since you only have a limited quantity to work with. I found that if I cast on 28 stitches instead of 38, and did a little blocking, I would have a cozy finished product:





It's like wearing a scarf, but you don't have to worry about the ends trailing into your mocha when you're sitting outside at your favorite cafe on a cold day.

Of course this weekend in San Francisco it's about 80 degrees F and the sun's like a laser. . .
